Hi! I’m Lorelei. I started knitting in 2007. I am a continental knitter living primarily in the sock weight world but occasionally snow bird in heavier weights such as Worsted and Chunky. I tend not to follow patterns and make things up as I go.
It seems traditional for mothers to teach their daughters how to knit but my mom crochets. So back in 2007, YouTube wasn’t what it is today and I had to learn from a book.
My yarn color phases go from red-purple-green. I’m always looking for new spots to knit at, if you have one for me to check out please let me know!
(Yes I made the cape and pouch I’m wearing in the photo!)
How I got Here
I started KnitsKnacks on Instagram in the early 2000’s. It was a way to document my projects. It later turned into a way to connect with other makers, and share little bits of life along the way.
I took a break from social media in 2020. Focused on my day job, walking and virtual knitting groups. In 2026, I’m still looking to build a knitting/maker community online.
I want that 90’s – 00’s vibe. I like creators that remember what it was like before “influencers” became the it thing. So that “I just woke up like this.” or “magazine cover” look isn’t what you should expect here. Also, I am not a photographer and I’m not going to pretend to be one! So, I can only promise to try and keep my finger out of the lens when I take photos. ;)
If you’d like to get in touch, you can reach out here or try to catch me on Instagram. There’s also Facebook Messenger, just remember I’m one human being with the attention span of a flea and notifications popping up all over the place. So I push that “slow life” button and ask for your patience.
You can also browse my never-ending queue of patterns on Ravelry — but fair warning: it’s a black hole for my time, and I don’t check messages there. If you want to say hi, use the contact page instead. :)
